It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

LiDAR, which stands for Light Detecting and Ranging, is a more advanced form of radar imaging. As an optical remote sensing technology, it is applied to a wide range of uses, from geomorphology to atmospheric studies to law enforcement.

Working under a contract from Terra Imaging, YugiiDesignGroup designed and produced the Course Overview application for the 2009 U.S. Open of Golf held at Torrey Pines, California. Integrating LiDAR imaging and 3D terrain mapping with the dynamic interactivity of Adobe Flash produced an application used by more than 20 million individuals in a one week period (June 9 - 15, 2008).

The imaging model was produced from both aerial and land radar imaging, and resulted in an application featuring on-demand (streaming) informational video and course flyovers, 3D Panoramic 360° views, and tee/fairway/bunker Player and Vertical views. One of the most intriguing aspects of the application is the sheer amount of graphic-rich content, provided by Terra Imaging’s strategic partnership with Leica Geosystems and Microsoft Virtual Earth. The project was also sponsored by American Express.

San Diego, CA - March 27, 2009 - Expanding the recognition and reach of YugiiDesignGroup into the areas of transportation planning, public accountability, and good governance, J. Cessieux and D. R. Acosta were honored with a Special Mention Diamond Award for their development of alternative transportation program for seven native sovereign nations.

The seventh annual Diamond Awards were given by the San Diego Association of Governments and its RideLink program to honor local organizations promoting commuting alternatives. Sponsored by VPSI, Inc., Ms. Cessieux and Ms. Acosta were honored “in recognition of the Reservation Transportation Authority’s [RTA] outstanding marketing and soliciting of survey responses from members of seven different tribes and tribal enterprises to determine the feasibility of a unique intertribal, collaborative transportation demand management program.”

The Reservation Transportation Authority, a consortium of nineteen Southern California Indian tribes, sought to gauge public interest, and ultimately, develop a mobility management program for the staff of tribal enterprises. The sovereign nations in this process include the following: Campo Kumeyaay Nation, La Posta Band of Mission Indians, Pala Band of Mission Indians, Pauma and Yuima Band of Luiseño Mission Indians, Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians, Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, and Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians. San Diego County tribal enterprises alone employ over 14,000 individuals, and through the funding and cooperation of Caltrans and SANDAG (respectively), the RTA and YDG consultants launched a full transportation survey assessment and outreach program in less than six months.

Application of the assessment results is scheduled to continue over the next two years as the RTA and its consultants continue to develop a road map for success and seek out the federal, state, and local funding to drive forward this program for the public good. In consideration of the positive reception the program met in just six months, anticipation for the next phase of program development is high, and Ms. Cessieux and Ms. Acosta look forward to continuing their work with the Reservation Transportation Authority.
